Reigning jungle queen – and now Loose Women regular – Vicky Pattison is a hot contender. Indeed, in April we reported that it was her “dream” gig.
“It is one of the most exciting rumours about me this year. I’m not ready to say goodbye to the jungle,” she told GMB this week.
Two-time campmate Katie Price threw her own hat in the ring, adding her ex-hubby Peter Andre in as well (whether he wanted her to or not). 2010’s Queen of the Jungle Stacey Solomon is also “in the mix”, a source close to the star telling us: “She’d love to go back out there and work with the guys again, definitely. She enjoyed being out in the jungle and working with those guys”.
But now Quickenden’s popped up with a new regular feature on ITV’s Lorraine – which will see him surprise local heroes – and it just seems like ruddy good timing. He was so popular in the jungle in 2014 that, despite turning up as a late arrival, he went on to take second place.
I’m a Celeb has form for turning former campmates into hosts. Matt Willis and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, like Swash, have quite literally been there, done that, and eaten the Kangaroo testicle.
Quickenden’s got some ITV experience under his belt already too, with various appearances on Loose Women. When they had their 2000th episode, he was specially invited to join in. So he’s not a complete newbie. But having experience is a big bonus on a live show like IACGMOOHN, so this may well be his trial. Do well here boy-o and we’ll consider you for a bigger gig (that’s how telly execs talk, right?).
Those involved in the show are staying tight-lipped. They won’t even dish on whether they’ll still actually have three presenters this time around. Any names mentioned at this “early stage”, they say, is “pure speculation”.
Swash is unlikely to be alone, but he could handle it. Do they need a third? Maybe not. But these are good options. Solomon and Swash’s giggly romance would add something extra to the show (they’re official boyfriend/girlfriend don’t cha know?). An “added bonus” our Solomon source told us of the possibility of landing the gig.
Or if Swash, Pattison and Quickenden lined up together I think we’d see some properly excellent telly. Straight-talking, good looking and eager to do more Bushtucker Trials even when they don’t need to? Works for us.
