Lauren Goodger is returning to TOWIE: “I am doing the next series”

The original cast member was only thought to be cameoing next series, but Goodger wants to return without the "dramas" with ex Mark Wright and be "one of the girls"

Lauren Goodger is planning a much bigger return to TOWIE than expected, in fact it looks like she’s going to be a full-timer again.

The original Essex cast mate left in 2012 with six series under her belt, signing up to reality contest Dancing On Ice the following January. A stint in Celebrity Big Brother followed in 2014, meaning her last appearance on the Essex-based show was a cameo in last year’s Christmas special. Now she’s keen to go back to Brentwood and show what she’s all about.

“I was meant to be in this series but I couldn’t be because of personal reasons,” she told Loose Women of the eighteenth series, which is currently airing on ITVBe. “But I am doing the next series, yes.

As for whether that was permanent or on an ad-hoc basis she continued:

“I’m going to see how it goes. I’ve had a chat with the execs, they’re lovely so nice, they said the door’s always open for you we miss you we’d love you to come back. I said I’d love to come in as Lauren now. See who Lauren is. Because no one actually knows who I am. I’ve always been in a drama, or in a relationship on TV. Now it’s about me. I have no drama. I can go on and be one of the girls.”

Insiders confirm to there have indeed been chats with Goodger about making the return more official.

“Nothing’s set in stone 100% but they’d like to have her back. They have spoken to her a lot.”

It’s safe to say she’s got form for bringing action to the small screen. Her relationship with former beau Mark Wright played out extensively on the constructed reality show when they both appeared. Even today she was still discussing reports of ongoing feuds with Mark and his wife, actress Michelle Keegan.

“Can I just please put this to bed from the horse’s mouth? That ship sailed so long ago. I have no feelings whatsoever good or bad. I’ve moved on, he’s moved on. He’s happy, I’m happy. I understand what everyone brings it up all the time, we were both on TOWIE together. I get that. But trust me now there is no hate, no feelings, I’m so happy for him and I’m happy in my own life and that’s all I’ve got to say.”

Despite insisting all’s well and drama-free in her life, TOWIE’s not known for its quietness. So we bargain her return would not only be welcomed by fans, but excite them for what’s to come.

News of her return follows yesterday’s confirmation that Billie Faiers will leave when this series comes to an end later this month.

The Only Way Is Essex continues tonight at 10:00pm on ITVBe
