EastEnders star Jack Derges to leave Andy Flynn role

Walford's hunky builder is departing the Square

He’s plotted and schemed against Ronnie Mitchell for months, but Andy Flynn’s time in Walford is about to come to an end.

With Ronnie having now discovered the truth about Andy’s history (ie. that he is in fact the adoptive brother of her late daughter Danielle), it’s only going to be a short time before the tense storyline reaches a climax.

Because, yes, Andy the builder (or Gareth, as we should really be calling him) is to soon exit the Square once his plotline reaches its natural end.

Andy first appeared on EastEnders back in March and has been caught in the shower on several occasions since, but actor Jack Derges is to leave E20 behind very shortly.

Speaking tonight, a spokesperson said to RadioTimes.com: “The character of Andy was created for a specific storyline which is currently coming to the end. We wish Jack all the best for the future.”

An EastEnders insider added: “When Andy arrived in Walford, viewers didn’t realise that he was hiding a dark secret but over the past few weeks it has become clear that his intentions towards Ronnie and her family are not what they seem.

“Andy was only ever going to be in Walford for this storyline which bosses kept under wraps as they didn’t want to spoil the storyline for the viewers but it’s fair to say there is more drama to come before Andy leaves Walford.”
