Billie Faiers has quit ITVBe’s The Only Way Is Essex.
Faiers officially joined the constructed reality show during the second series in 2011. But even after five years, it seems her exit won’t come with any finality. She’ll technically leave when this series comes to an end on 17th August, but insiders say it’s very much expected the door will be “left open” for sporadic returns.
Cameos from former cast members aren’t uncommon on the show. Gemma Collins, Ferne McCann and Mario Falcone are among those who’ve left and made brief reappearances (Jess Wright, for instance, is turning up in Wednesday night’s show to support pal Bobby Norris). Because of this we also understand it’s unlikely Faiers will have a big ‘exit episode’.
In fact, Faiers role in this most recent series has been more intermittent anyway, seeing her appear more of a ‘semi-regular’ basis rather than being seen in every episode.
She’s said to have told friends that part of her reason for leaving is that she wants to focus on having her own show, according to the Sun. Her sister, Sam, has fronted her own series for the channel focussed on motherhood since leaving, so Billie may be keen to replicate that.
And given her popularity – and indeed that of her young daughter Nelly, who regularly appears – it’s likely fans will want to see more from her in the future, so don’t expect this to be a final farewell.
A Lime Pictures spokesperson said: “Billie has recently made us aware that she would like to prioritise family life and little Nelly for the rest of the year. We are in full support of this decision and will continue discussing with her how best to move forwards. Billie is a much loved and valued member of the TOWIE team and we are happy she wants to continue working with us.”
