Joining the mass of superhero trailers released at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-con is a new look at Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, full of increasingly psychedelic effects as the physician-turned sorcerer battles Mads Mikkelsen across a twisting New York landscape.
Giving us a much better look at Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Mordo, Mikkelsen’s baddie Kaecilius and Benedict Wong’s, er, Wong, the trailer is also notable for including some of the most imaginative special effects we’ve seen in a superhero movie thus far, with the magicians slipping between dimensions, turning cities pside down and throwing curses as they battle for the world.
You can get a hint of it in the newly-released poster (below) as well, but frankly you’ll have to watch the trailer to see what we mean – it’s pretty special.
Oh, and the trailer also includes one of the best wi-fi jokes you’re likely to see this year, so it’s nice to know Doctor Strange has something for everybody. Magic moments, indeed.
Doctor Strange will be released in UK cinemas on October 28th
