Original Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd slams Leslie Jones Twitter trolls

"They're insignificant gnats," says the original co-writer and star as Leslie Jones was the target of online hate

Original Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd has slammed online trolls for their attacks on new Ghostbuster Leslie Jones, dubbing them “insignificant gnats”.

Jones re-posted various hate-filled messages she’d received on Twitter writing that she was “reporting and exposing your racist ass”, describing the situation as her “personal hell”. Before opting to leave the social media site, the actress added: “You can hate the movie but the shit I got today…wrong.”

Now, Aykroyd has vehemently defended the actress and comedian telling ET Canada the online haters are “losers”.

“They have no lives of their own. They can probably barely pay for the Wi-Fi they’re using, probably no jobs. I would say you’re looking at obese white men between 50 and 60 who are active [Ku Klux] Klan members or members of the Aryan Nation, and there are millions of them.”
