Nintendo to relaunch classic NES console with a twist

The classic games system will return to the UK this autumn - but it won't be half the console '80s gamers remember...

Fans of 1980s video gaming should prepare to be excited because the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES to friends) is set to return later this year with a 21st Century twist… it’s really small.

Launching in stores on November 11th the Nintendo Classic Mini – which comes with 30 NES games including favourites like Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, PAC-MAN and Kirby’s Adventures – is sure to make it onto every nostalgic gamer’s Christmas list.

The console is virtually the same as the original which first arrived in the UK in 1987, however it’s a fraction of the size.  The new system comes packaged with a USB cable for power and its own HDMI cable so you can easily plug it into your big modern TV and enjoy all of the Nintendo’s 8-bit gaming glory in your front room.

Nintendo Classic Mini NES Controllers can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games on a Wii or Wii U console, by simple connecting them to a Wii Remote Controller.

We can’t wait to revel in the nostalgia it brings alongside Mario, end of level big bosses and the chance to finally complete Pac-Man.
