Leftovers star Carrie Coon joins Fargo season 3

Watch out, Ewan McGregor... don't mess with this no-nonsense cop

Carrie Coon, of The Leftovers and Gone Girl, will play a hard-headed cop in season three of Fargo, the bloody and addictive FX black-comedy drama.

Her character will be Gloria Burgle, the bad-ass chief of the Edna Valley Police Department, who is newly divorced and stuck in the past, reluctant to accept the rise of modern technology.

The third season of the Emmy-winning show is expected to be set in 2010, which means it’s leaping forwards in time: with the original run having taken place in 2006, season two was set in 1979.

Starring alongside Coon will be not one but two Ewan McGregors – lucky us – because the Scottish actor has been cast in the double lead role of the Stussy twins, who have a story of serious sibling rivalry.

Coon is currently filming the third and final season of The Leftovers. Fargo starts production later this year, to air on FX in 2017. In the UK the series has been shown on C4 and Netflix.
