ABSOLUTE FABULOUS: THE MOVIE ★★★

Darling, that is so 1990s. Flipped-out fashionistas Eddy and Patsy are back raising hell on the London party scene, almost thirty years after Jennifer Saunders originated the Eddy character in a sketch (that turned into the landmark BBC sitcom). But have the intervening years been kind to her?

CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE ★★★

There is counter-intelligence at work here on many levels as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson sends up his gung-ho image and comedian Kevin Hart plays the straight man in a secret agent buddy movie that even the harshest of critics have warmed to. Cue the little and large gags.

COLONIA ★★★

This one starring Emma Watson has been the subject of some controversy for its portrayal of a facility in Chile that was used for torture (and other human rights abuses) under the Pinochet regime in the 1970s. If you’ve never heard of the Colonia Dignidad this film won’t offer you the definitive account, but suffice it to say, it ain’t Hogwarts. Hermione fans, be warned.
