Here’s hoping Miss Great Britain’s family and friends were armed with the mute button on tonight’s show as Zara Holland went from 0 to 100 with new bloke Alex Bowen on his very first night.
Yes, somewhere in between talking about being Miss Great Britain, Zara found time to woo one of the new islanders and spend the night with him in the hideaway.
Clearly those lessons in eye contact from the other female islanders paid off. As well as the fact that us viewers actually voted her into the date.
The under-the-covers antics aren’t exactly up there alongside working on world peace so the mood among Miss GB wannabes is no doubt calm.
But hey, Zara’s been pretty unlucky in love in the villa, so it was about time she got the guy, especially after facing off with fellow singleton Olivia again. They both wanted to date Alex, but Zara for once got to take her pick, leaving Olivia to fume about another girl going into a “cave” with a man whom she like totally already has really big feelings for.
Major emotions in the Love Island villa.
Alex, meanwhile, will be pretty darn chuffed with himself. The 24-year-old scaffolder from Wolverhampton wanted to go in and “crack on with the girls”. So that’s a tick on the old to-do list straight away. Always a good feeling, a tick on the to-do list. Mine is usually because I remembered to do the washing, but hey.
As for being Vicky Pattison’s ex, well it seems the I’m A Celeb champ knows exactly what he’s all about, so is unlikely to be too surprised.
How the other islanders will react to the news remains to be seen. What also remains to be seen is how many times Zara manages to mention she’s Miss GB while describing the events of the evening. She wouldn’t be the Zara we’ve come to know and love if it doesn’t at least go a little like this: “So I know I’m Miss GB right, but Miss GB has needs, and Alex was there for Miss GB when Miss GB needed him most…”
Love Island continues Thursday at 9:00pm on ITV2
