Netflix has announced its first original Indian drama – an adaptation of author Vikram Chandra’s 2006 bestselling novel Sacred Games.
Set in Mumbai, the story is an epic of corruption, violence and money in the city’s underworld. The drama will be in Hindi and English and shot on location in India.
“I’m confident that all the colour and vitality and music of the fictional world I’ve lived with for so long will come fully alive on the large-scale canvas provided by Netflix,” said Chandra.
The new series will be co-produced with Indian production company Phantom Films, the first time an on demand service has teamed up to produce an Indian Original Series.
