Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville is releasing an album of music and poetry “inspired by the Sussex countryside”

No, really...

Your grandma will love this. That nice Lord Grantham from Downton Abbey striding up and down hills, and looking wistfully across valleys, as warm piano chords play and he recites his own poetry about “our land”.

There’s going to be a whole album of it, called In a South Downs Way. No, really…

“My friend, Damian, played me some tracks that he and [trumpeter] Stewart [Prosser] were developing and asked me to read some poetry over the wonderful music,” says Hugh Bonneville. “It inspired me to offer some words of my own. In A South Downs Way reminds me of the place I’m lucky enough to call home.”

That’s grandma’s birthday present sorted then.

The album is released on 17th June
