Winnie the Pooh meets Her Majesty The Queen for the first time in a new illustrated adventure, released to celebrate the 90th birthday of our monarch and the beloved bear himself.
The new tale sees Pooh travel to London, with Christopher Robin, Eeyore and Piglet, to give the Queen a bright red balloon and a hand-written ‘hum’ for her big day.
The gang bump into the Queen, and Prince George, who is described as “almost as bouncy as Tigger”, outside the gates of Buckingham Palace to give her the birthday presents. But they are unaware one of their party should be celebrating the very same milestone.
“What the friends didn’t realise was that Pooh Bear had arrived in the Forest in the very same year that Princess Elizabeth was born. But time is a tricky thing; years begin by lazing along slowly and then suddenly, up they jump and off they trot as quickly as ever they can. To Winnie the Pooh, it felt like just yesterday that he had come bumping down those stairs. Bump, bump, bump. And that is just the way it should be,” reads the book’s final paragraph.
