BGT viewers dub Jasmine Elcock a ‘baby Leona Lewis’

Ant and Dec's Golden Buzzer is compared to former X Factor champ after Britain's Got Talent semi-final performance

Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer Jasmine Elcock took to the stage tonight and viewers were so impressed they’ve dubbed her a ‘baby Leona Lewis’.

Elcock, 14, blew the judges away with her rendition of Birdy’s Wings, David Walliams describing her as sounding like a “world famous” artist.

“Jasmine this is kind of both good and bad,” Cowell teased. “The bad part is their smug little faces,” he laughed, pointing at Ant and Dec, who’d given her the free pass to this year’s semi-finals. “I mean this is really annoying. But Jasmine I really, really like you. I tell you why – you’re not what I call one of these ‘power house’ singers. What you’ve got is this incredible delicate control, which you don’t get with you singers normally. Your timing and performance skills and confidence and likability…. fantastic! But still very annoying at the same time.”

Viewers at home certainly seemed to agree, her name almost instantly trending on Twitter. And a recurring theme was that she sounded like 2006 X Factor winner and global superstar Leona Lewis.
