Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd – Callum was originally supposed to stay buried for FIVE YEARS

The corpse of drug dealer Callum was meant to stay concealed for a lot longer

The corpse of Callum Logan will be dug up on next week’s episodes of Coronation Street, but actor Jack P Shepherd has revealed that it was planned for the notorious drug dealer to stay buried for a lot longer.

“We originally got told that the body wouldn’t be discovered for five years,” says the Corrie star. “But there’s more drama in having them find the corpse.”

Shepherd looks set to be heart of the fallout from the grisly find when his character David Platt and the rest of his on-screen family become the focus of a murder investigation.

Viewers have seen the Platts trying to conceal their guilt ever since Kylie did away with Callum last September and bury him down a manhole at the annexe of No 8 Coronation Street.

But the situation will change during a high profile week for the ITV soap that sees the Platt house give up its gruesome secret.

“The story had run its course with us looking shifty and nervous,” adds Shepherd. “We’d drawn it out for quite a few months, so why wait another four years? We might as well just discover the body.”
