The Americans, it seems, are not ready for the Great US Bake Off: Mary Berry’s spin-off show has reportedly been dropped by US network ABC.
The Great Holiday Baking Show has performed poorly in the ratings and is understood to have been dropped from the schedules by the US broadcaster.
The reason is understood to be primarily its low audience, according to The Sun, with the show losing 700,000 viewers over the course of the series.
When it launched last year fans complained about the programme which does not feature either Berry’s regular sidekick Paul Hollywood or presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins which make it such a favourite this side of the pond.
Its poor performance in the US compares strongly to its performance in the UK where where 14.5 million people tuned in to see Nadiya Hussain win the competition last year.
The Great British Bake Off also won a BAFTA last week, scooping the best entertainment feature award.
