Radio Times has triumphed at the British Media Awards taking home the top Brand of the Year prize.
Radio Times won the award at the event which aims to “highlight the best in business across the entire media industry” for its outstanding work across the magazine and RadioTimes.com as well as the Discover TV app and last autumn’s inaugural Radio Times Festival.
The judges said in their awards citation: “One of the UK’s oldest and most established media brands continues to reinvent itself and grow its circulation. To be as successful as it continues to be is a remarkable story, and truly deserving of media brand of the year. In this year, and any year.”
Radio Times editor in chief Ben Preston and Radio Times managing director Kathy Day picked up the awards at the ceremony at Hilton Park Lane.
Speaking of the win he said: “Brand of the Year is the big one at the British Media Awards and this is a real honour. It means Radio Times is simply the best magazine website, app and festival.
“Radio Times is on a roll. We chalked up more nominations in the PPA Awards last week than any paid-for magazine – now we’ve shown a clean pair of heels to everyone from the FT to Jamie Oliver.”
Next month Radio Times is in the running in five categories in the Professional Publishers Association [PPA] awards.
Radio Times is nominated for Magazine of the Year, Editor of the Year and Brand of the Year with the Radio Times Festival competing for the Event of the Year crown. RadioTimes.com’s TV Champion tournament is nominated for the Best Use of Social Media.
