If you’ve just watched The Island with Bear Grylls and thought, ‘I could do that’, well, you’re in luck because not only has a fourth series been confirmed, the Channel 4 show is already looking for contestants.
You’ll need to be quite quick about it too, with applications closing on the 17th July.
The application form calls for people wanting to see if they could survive when “stripped of 21st century comforts”. “No experience of adventure or survival pursuits is necessary,” it adds.
The form also notes that applicants need to “be able to be abroad for six weeks”, which could suggest this fourth series will return to the longer run of the second series. The first and most recent third saw the contestants on the island for a month.
Grylls has previously laughed off claims watching the show would stop most wanting to sign up.
“You think, who would watch The Island and want to go on it? It’s just absolutely f***ing grim. But Big Brother, I think the most they ever had apply was 50,000 – we had 130,000. People want to be tested: ‘What am I really made of when push comes to shove?’”
Sound like you? You know what to do!
