Lane, who is pregnant with her second child, is due to leave the ITV soap in the coming months, with Kylie’s departure set to be tied to the uncovering of Callum’s corpse from the manhole at No 8.

Speaking about how Kylie will leave our screens, Lane commented: “I’m very happy with my exit. I can’t reveal how or why or even if the door is being left open for Kylie.”

Ever since Kylie killed Callum during last September’s live episode of Corrie, viewers have been speculating as to whether she will eventually go to prison for the crime.

“It’s a very fitting end for the character. And of course everyone is counting down to the big reveal where Callum’s body will finally be found,” Lane added to the Star on Sunday.

The actress’s comments come following an interview Jack P Shepherd gave to RadioTimes.com in which he raised the prospect of David getting a new love interest once wife Kylie quits Weatherfield.

“David and Kylie are a good partnership. I’ve always said that. So it’ll be a shame when that goes. But there might be somebody else – who knows?” said Shepherd.
