The remake of classic Western The Magbificent Seven has its first trailer, and it’s looking, well, pretty magnificent. And seven-y.
Starring Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio in an ensemble cast, the story follows a group of ragtag gunfighters hired to protect a small town from industriliast Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), with the team resorting to increasingly desperate tactics to protect innocents.
The 1960 original movie starred Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen and was itself based on Akira Kurosawa’s hit Seven Samurai, which came out 6 years earlier – so at least it took them a while longer to remake it this time (66 years, to be precise).
By that rate of increase we put the next remake at about 726 years from now, when presumably it’ll be created in 5-dimensional space and beamed directly into our pleasure centres right alongside the 49th version of Spider-Man.
The Magnificent Seven will be released in UK cinemas on the 23rd September
