Daniel and Imogen will both depart in next week's episodes

Neighbours actor Tim Phillips has revealed that his character Daniel Robinson was axed from the Australian soap.

“The decision wasn’t mine,” he said. “The producers wanted Daniel and Imogen to leave together. So much negative stuff had happened that the show wanted something positive to come out of it. So with Imogen going, the only real option was for Daniel to go too.”

Next week’s episodes will see Daniel and Imogen (Ariel Kaplan) depart for Los Angeles following their wedding. Despite the occasion being a feel-good moment in the wake of the recent losses sustained in the Lassiter’s explosion, it’s a bittersweet time for Phillips.

Explaining the decision to write his character out, Phillips commented to Inside Soap: “I think the writers wanted to create a parallel with Daniel leaving Ramsay Street after getting married, just like his parents Scott and Charlene did.”

However Phillips, who had recently clocked up two years in Erinsborough, is hopeful that Daniel might one day make a return.”I’m really glad that Daniel is still alive, as there’s always a possibility that he could come back and fix his relationship with his Uncle Paul.”
