Presenter Laura Whitmore has quit I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here Now! after five series.
The spin-off host said she’s “sorry to say goodbye” to the ITV2 show – which supports the main Ant and Dec-fronted series – but admitted she’s been “thinking about it for a long time”.
“After 5 incredible series working with my extended I’m A Celeb family I’ve taken the tough decision to hang up my jungle boots,” Whitmore wrote on Instagram. “It’s been such a wonderful experience but I feel it’s time to move on. I wish the team well and look forward to tuning in later this year as well as continuing to work with ITV on other shows.”
Last year’s series saw Whitmore once again team up with actor and former King of the Jungle Joe Swash and for the first time comedian David Morgan. The latter is also said to have left in a report in the Mirror, while there’s been no news on Swash leaving.
As for that sound you can hear, that’s presenters rushing to the phone to call their agents. A shot at this Down Under gig is one plenty will want. New Virgin Radio drivetime host Matt Richardson told us last month he’d “rip [Laura’s] arm off” for that job. And Katie Price has thrown her jungle hat in the ring, saying it would be “cool” if she and her ex-husband Peter Andre (who of course met on the show) were to take over.
Well, the show does usually have a comedian on and, judging by the reaction on Twitter, that’s certainly made a few chuckle…
