Mark Rylance is a big-eared, big-hearted giant in new trailer for The BFG

Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic is set to arrive in cinemas this July

The first look at Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of The BFG gave away almost nothing about how the movie would look, but the latest trailer offers up one huge look at Mark Rylance as the big-eared, big-hearted giant.

Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic stars the Wolf Hall star as the Big Friendly Giant, with Ruby Barnhill as the young orphan Sophie whisked away to Giant Country.

Rylance’s solemn eyes are still recognisable beneath the CGI and ear-enlarging effects. The actor recently worked with Spielberg on Bridge of Spies, earning a Best Supporting Actor Oscar win.

The BFG is set to be released in cinemas on 22nd July, in the year of the 100th anniversary of Dahl’s birth.
