Michelle Keegan is in full army uniform for her next role. The 28-year-old, who found fame on the Corrie cobbles, is following in Lacey Turner’s footsteps and starring in the second series of BBC1 drama Our Girl.
It’s not expected to hit our telly screens for a few months yet, but the BBC have already given us a first glimpse of Keegan in her new part…
Keegan is playing Corporal Georgie Lane “a brilliant and committed soldier who loves the adrenaline and adventure of her job.” Posted in a “complicated and volatile” part of Kenya, Georgia has to “earn the love and trust of her fellow soldiers… while working alongside aid workers in the biggest refugee camp in the world.”
“I’ve watched Our Girl and I’m a massive fan of the series so I can’t wait to be a part of it,” Keegan said when she was cast in the drama. “It’s going to be a big but exciting challenge for me.”
The first series of Our Girl starred Lacey Turner, who wasn’t able to take part in the second run because of commitments to EastEnders.
Since leaving Coronation Street in 2014, Keegan has starred in Ordinary Lies.
