Cain and Moira’s marriage looks set to be put to the test next week when village returnee Holly Barton schemes with the newly released Charity Dingle to split them up.
Holly will be seen trying to strike a deal with Charity to get Cain away from Moira but only at a price. But actor Jeff Hordley is hoping that, despite these machinations, his on-screen marriage will remain rock solid.
“In the world of soap, there’s always the potential for characters to break up. But personally I’d be gutted because I love working with Natalie J Robb [Moira]. We’ll have to see what the future holds, but I think they’re strong enough for the writers to keep us together. They have a certain appeal and charm for the fans. She’s tamed him somewhat and viewers like that.”
Upcoming episodes will see actress Sophie Powles return to the role of Holly for the first time in four years, with the character set to be a thorn in the side of Cain thanks to her trying to form a partnership with Charity.
Are Charity and Holly about to wreck Cain’s marriage?
“He’s only just dealt with Charity being released from prison, so it’s not ideal to have Holly around,” adds Hordley. “She’s not that keen on Cain because – as far she’s concerned – he’s the reason her mum and dad split up. So Holly isn’t Cain’s biggest fan.”
So might Holly teaming up with Charity mean disaster for Cain and Moira? “I think it could spell trouble. Especially because Cain doesn’t even realise that it’s happening!”
