Another big book franchise is coming to the big screen this year: Tim Burton takes the helm of Miss Peregine’s Home for Peculiar Children, based on the best selling novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs.
The book tells the tale of a boy named Jake (Asa Butterfield) who discovers a home for children on an abandoned Welsh island after a family tragedy.
It’s there that he meets Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) and the peculiar children, all of whom have extraordinary abilities, and need protecting.
The film comes courtesy of former X-Men First Class writer Jane Goldman so it’s little wonder it’s got that X-Men vibe about it. And if the trailer is anything to go by, it’s all a bit Harry Potter meets The Spiderwick Chronicles with a dash of the dazzling Stardust thrown in.
