Game of Thrones’ latest recruit Ian McShane hasn’t appeared on the wild shores of Westeros yet – but that hasn’t stopped him sharing a few plot spoilers from season six.
Namely, that he is set to “bing back a much-loved character everybody thinks is dead.”
Predictably his admission earlier this month caused something of a stir, but the 73-year-old clearly couldn’t care less… “You say the slightest thing and the internet goes ape,” says McShane. “I was accused of giving the plot away, but I just think get a f***ing life. It’s only tits and dragons.”
In fact, while defending himself in The Telegraph, McShane has apparently shared another plot point.
“They asked me if I wanted to do Game of Thrones and I said, ‘Sure, I’ll be able to see my old pals Charlie Dance and Stephen Dillane’ and they said, ‘No, we’ve killed them off.’ I wasn’t sure whether I could commit, but then they said it would only be for one episode, so I said, ‘So that means I must die at the end of it. Great, I’m in.'”
Does this mean Stannis is definitely dead? Or maybe McShane is playing along with the writers’ tricksy game after all…
Game of Thrones returns to Sky Atlantic on Monday 25th April at 9:00pm
