Manchester United’s Class of 92 set to return to the BBC

Documentary series Class of 92: Out of Their League, following the fortunes of Salford City FC and its famous owners, has been recommissioned for a second series

Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt are coming back to the BBC, after the broadcaster commissioned a new series of football documentary Class of 92: Out of Their League.

The series, which followed the fortunes of the five famous former Manchester United owners as they bought non-league football club Salford City FC, will return for a new two-part BBC1 series later this year.

In the first series, Gary Neville was very much hands-on in the running of the club, meeting regularly with the Salford City board, and even getting hot under the collar over a “dodgy Sky box” in the club bar.

However, since the first series ended the former Sky Sports pundit has become manager of Spanish side Valencia, with his brother Phil as coach.

Production company Electric Ray have been filming at the club and with the owners since the start of the season, going behind the scenes of the club and finding out how promotion and new TV exposure have influenced the dressing room.

“Since the first season the characters of Moor Lane have been thrust into the limelight and things have certainly changed at this club,” said executive producer Meredith Chambers. “The access we have once again been given is exceptional and the next chapter is set to be just as thrilling as the first.”
