Will Top Gear make it back on air by the planned 8th May broadcast date?
RadioTimes.com understands that the production team is working around the clock to get the show back on BBC2 by then – which is a must.
“It is a race against time and there can be no slip ups,” said a production source. “There can be no delays.”
According to the source, not only are many expensive multi-series contracts in place, but Chris Evans and his team know that if they fail to get the programme out on time then it will struggle to air on BBC2 in the summer because the TV schedules are packed with football’s European Championship and the Rio Olympics.
And autumn 2016 is also a no go because a certain show from Messrs Clarkson, May and Hammond is coming to Amazon then.
And the BBC really don’t want to be overtaken by that old banger…
