DAD’S ARMY  ★★★

Don’t panic! The Home Guard of Walmington-on-Sea is back on the big screen and ready to keep Hitler’s hordes from good old Blighty. With a cast including Toby Jones, Bill Nighy and Michael Gambon, the reputation of the classic BBC comedy series is in safe hands.

TRUMBO ★★★

No surprise that Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston has been Oscar-nominated for his barnstorming performance as the maverick Hollywood wordsmith, whose career was blighted by postwar communist witch-hunts. Words and wit were Dalton Trumbo’s trade and they are deftly wielded by a star on top form.

GOOSEBUMPS ★★★

The terrifying creations of a reclusive author burst forth from his books and menace a small American town in a crazy “spot the monster” adventure inspired by the horror stories by RL Stine.

POINT BREAK ★★

Fans of the Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze action yarn may pine for the 1991 original but for this remake it’s extreme sports athletes pulling off elaborate heists, so expect wing suits and base jumping to pump up the adrenaline along with surfing and skydiving.
