Outlander’s Sam Heughan introduces haunting Skye Boat sing-along video

The theme tune has some new appropriate lyrics

If you were ever a Scottish school child, there’s a fair chance you had to learn the Skye Boat song at some point.

It tells the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s escaped Scotland after the Battle of Culloden and is, frankly, excruciating when it’s sung by an assembly room full of kids.

Not anymore. This Outlander version is simply stunning.

In this beautiful sing-along video, introduced by Sam Heughan, the old folk song is rewritten to describe Claire’s journey through time.

What next, a lip sync battle to the Massacre of Glencoe…

All that was fair, all that was me is gone.
