Vernon Kay is to host a brand new driving-themed game show, Drive, on ITV.
He’ll be joined by UK racing legend and double British Touring Car Champion Jason Plato, as celebrities are pitted against each other in high-adrenalin motoring challenges.
Rapper Professor Green, singer Ella Eyre, TV personality Louis Walsh, actor and comedian Johnny Vegas, Olympic athlete Colin Jackson, TV presenter Mariella Frostrup, weather expert Laura Tobin and broadcaster Angus Deayton are set to take the wheel in the new series.
From 4x4s to old bangers via rally cross cars, their driving skills will face a bigger test than trying to park in the supermarket on Christmas Eve…
There’s set to be night races for those who record the slowest times in each section. Those who make it to the final will hop in Formula 4000 racing cars in a bid to be crowned the Drive Champion.
“Everyone thinks they can drive – but can they?” Kay said. “This show will test not only their skills behind the wheel but also how they control their fear. Drive is not just about straight line speed, all driving skills are going to be tested. But when it’s not your clutch you’re burning or your tyres you’re shredding, it’s full steam ahead!”
“I’m excited to see what these celebrities can do behind the steering wheel,” pro driver Plato added. “There is a massive difference from driving a car on the road to taking something to the race track and it will be interesting to see who has what it takes to take their foot off the brake and test their limits.”
Drive will air later this year on ITV
