Sherlock may not know that the Earth revolves around the Sun, but that hasn’t stopped him crushing the biggest sci-fi of all time.
Well, in some places, that is.
The Abominable Bride, the mind-twisting Victorian special that premiered on January 1st this year, has been seen in cinemas by more than five million people across Asia. Following its release in more than 6,000 screens in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan, it became the number one English language movie in Hong Kong, South Korea and China.
Yes, it even beat Star Wars, outselling The Force Awakens in South Korea by four to one in its opening weekend.
He (and BBC Worldwide, who organised the release) are understandably pretty pleased…
