Miriam Margolyes, Sylvester McCoy and Wayne Sleep move into The Real Marigold Hotel

Travel series coming to BBC2 later this month

Just because you’re older doesn’t mean you have to slow down. BBC2 have announced a new travel documentary series featuring an all-star cast of senior citizens.

The Real Marigold Hotel, named for the successful movies, will feature eight much-loved celebrities travelling to India to see whether they can set up a better, more rewarding retirement than in the UK.

Making the trek later this January are: Miriam Margolyes, Wayne Sleep and Patti Boulaye (all OBEs), former Doctor Sylvester McCoy, funnyman Roy Walker, Rosemary Shrager, Bobby George and former news reader Jan Leeming.

They’ll each spend three weeks in a haveli – an Indian private mansion – and in-between making forays into the local culture, will have to work out the cleaning rota. With this line-up, we imagine that will make for entertaining viewing.
