Moira Dingle is to seek solace in the arms of her nephew Pete Barton in next week’s episodes of Emmerdale when the pair share a surprise kiss.
With her marriage to Cain currently in trouble following the departure of Debbie, it isn’t long before Moira is turning to Pete for support after he stands up for her in the Woolpack and tells Cain that he needs to be a better husband.
But what Moira certainly isn’t expecting is for Pete to then respond with an impromptu snog! “She’s taken by surprise, but she does respond a little bit and then stops herself quickly,” says actress Natalie J Robb.
And yet despite Cain currently levelling a lot of blame at her for Debbie’s new year exit, Moira wastes no time in telling her husband about what Pete has done.
“Yes, it’s a very quick kiss but it means a lot more to Pete, which is why she decides to tell Cain,” adds the actress. “She thinks it would be worse if he found out from someone else. And then Cain warns Pete off and tells him to stay away from Moira.”
But it looks like there will be no quick fixes for Cain and Moira’s volatile relationship. As well as the presence of Pete to contend with, there’s also the upcoming release of Charity to face. So is Moira feeling wary about that prospect?
“She is worried and insecure about Charity coming back. She has to trust Cain, but that’s very difficult when it comes to Charity.”
But for now, all eyes will be on next week’s kiss and the resultant fallout. But, for Natalie J Robb, how was it kissing actor Anthony Quinlan rather than regular screen partner Jeff Hordley?
“It was fine. I’ve worked with him a lot and we’re friends off screen. I remember when he did a screen test and we’ve always had a bond. So it was pretty easy!”
