Well, it was only fitting, wasn’t it? After two years spent parading around upstairs at the Queen Vic in his beloved’s dressing gown, landlord Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) ended up wearing the robe on his wedding day.
Yes, Mick has finally got married to Linda (Kellie Bright) in a lovely shade of pink after his more traditional suit got ruined during a watery confrontation with villainous Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo).
But a fight to the near death couldn’t put a damper on the Carters’ big day and – following the arrest of Dean – a (slightly mud-spattered) Linda walked down the aisle to the sight of her groom in pastel-shaded towelling and flamingo slippers.
It was an unusually upbeat ‘doof doof’ for EastEnders, with Mick and Linda’s happiness well-earned after a fraught week that has seen Dean trying to kill his nearest and not-so-dearest after he admitted to raping the landlady back in October 2014.
Speaking about lies ahead for Mick and Linda now that they’ve finally tied the knot, actor Danny Dyer recently told RadioTimes.com that there’s no chance that the pair will be splitting up:
“From the off, Kellie Bright and I agreed that we can’t be doing the ‘affair’ thing. We’ve got some stuff coming up that’s going to freak some people out, which is around that sort of thing. That’s all I can tell you.
“But we want to be the first on-screen couple that doesn’t mess about. We want to show that there is true love out there and that you can find your soul mate – even in a soap.”
