Lights, camera, action! Tonight ITV are attempting the seemingly impossible: a live broadcast of classic musical The Sound of Music. It’s been over half a century since Julie Andrews, Christopher Plumber and their Von Trapp family singers first warbled their way onto UK cinema screens with Something (seriously) Good, but tonight the iconic characters will have something of a makeover.
Among the cast are Kara Tointon (as Maria), Julian Ovenden (as Georg Von Trapp), Katherine Kelly (as Baroness Elsa Schraeder) and Alexander Armstrong (as Max Detweiler).
To celebrate, we did one of our Favourite Things and listened to The Sound of Music soundtrack in its entirety (starting at the very beginning, of course) to extract some important wisdom from the Rogers and Hammerstein 1965 musical smash hit. Here’s what we came up with…
