Tina Fey and Martin Freeman see the funny side of war in first trailer for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

The comedy is based on a memoir by war reporter Kim Barker, who travelled to Afghanistan in 2002 and had a whole host of experiences worth writing home about

War isn’t usually a topic ripe for comedy, but when Tina Fey’s involved, it’s all a little bit funnier.

In the first trailer for Fey’s new film Whiskey Tango Foxtrot she plays Kim Barker, a journalist who travels to Afghanistan to try her hand at war reporting and faces a very steep learning curve.

Martin Freeman stars alongside Fey as a fellow journalist who Kim becomes romantically involved with.

Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are at the helm of the film which has been adapted from Kim Barker’s real-life memoir of life as a war correspondent, The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days In Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Also starring Margot Robbie, Billy Bob Thornton, and Josh Charles, the film will be out in March 2016.
