After years offscreen, fans have been frantically discussing the mystery absence of one key character from any posters or trailers for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
Is he dead, we wondered, or missing somewhere? Or has he turned to the dark side, an evil Sith Lord pulling the strings from behind the scenes?
But now the mystery has been solved by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, who has announced that the character we’ve been waiting for won’t be in The Force Awakens at all.
Brace yourselves – because it looks like Episode VII is going to be a Binks-free zone.
Wait, who did you think we were talking about?
“Jar Jar is definitely not in the movie,” Kennedy told a press conference earlier this week (via the Guardian), undoubtedly shattering countless conspiracy theories and a heart or two. She also added that The Force Awakens would remain resolutely free of the cuddly alien Ewoks “because Harrison [Ford] insisted on it.”
So there you have it – the greatest Star Wars mystery ever, finally laid to rest. Now we can enjoy the Force Awakens safe in the knowledge that there’ll be no surprises or twists of any kind. Phew.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is in UK cinemas from 17th December
