First look at Martin Freeman and Tina Fey in new ‘war on terror’ comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

The Sherlock star teams up with the 30 Rock comedian for a Afghanistan satire based on the memoirs of journalist Kim Barker

Martin Freeman has moved from Baker Street to Kabul for his latest role in Afghan war black comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

The Sherlock star appears alongside 30 Rock’s Tina Fey, in a new satire based on the memoirs of war reporter Kim Barker.

Fey plays Barker, a US journalist based in Afghanistan and Pakistan during American’s ‘War on Terror’. Freeman is Scottish war photographer Iain MacKelpie, apparently the guy Barker should on no account fall for. “Of course you can probably guess what happens then,” Fey told USA Today.

They pair certainly look cosy in the first pictures from the movie, with Freeman and Fey presumably looking at MacKelpie’s latest shots from the front line.

The film, due for release in march 2016, also features Alfred Molina, Margot Robbie, Christopher Abbot and Billy Bob Thornton (below right).

It’s going to be fascinating seeing Fey and Freeman treading a fine comedic line on this one.
