He’s many people’s favourite for the role of James Bond if Daniel Craig were to quit the part – but Luther and The Wire star Idris Elba has had it up to here with people calling him 007.
“Enough is enough,” Elba told the Telegraph. “I can’t talk about it any more.”
“It feels like I’m campaigning, and I’m not. At first it was harmless — oh, I know, wouldn’t it be great? — and now it’s started off racial debates. I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I’ve not even played the role.”
Said racial debates were another no-go area for Elba, who said: “As soon as you say discrimination, you’re planting seeds over and over again.
“I don’t want to be called a black actor. You’ve got a generation of people who just want to move forward, not keep going on about the past.”
Sounds like recent press attention has left Elba a little more shaken than stirred…
