Fifteen series in, we’re used to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! hosts Ant and Dec having a jolly good time watching the celebs suffer through trials. But tonight they went one step further and basically turned the Bushtucker Trial into their very own jungle version of Gogglebox.
While camper George Shelley got stuck into movie-themed trials, the Geordie duo quite literally put their feet up, sitting in cinemas seats to watch the action unfold. Popcorn in one hand, a drink in the other, they laughed themselves silly as the young singer tried to earn stars.
“This is awful…” Ant began, before teasing, “I asked for sweet and they’ve given me salty popcorn.”
“I like this bit,” Dec chuckled, as George danced around with green ants biting everything and anything.
When the film in question was Cloudy with a Chance of Pig Balls – which saw the camper unceremoniously struck with wet and heavy porky privates – the pair weren’t even attempting to keep the smirks off their faces. “It’s like 3D this,” Dec roared as they were splattered.
But George is unlikely to have minded their excitable reactions, because they – gasp – let him sneak a few handfuls of popcorn before going back to camp.
I can’t be sure, but I think this may well be live footage from camp of him trying to get to sleep…
Of course, what episode of I’m A Celeb would be complete without a barney? With no eviction to keep us busy, we needed one, right? And that, naturally, came from the conveyor belt of insults that is Lady C. While barely lifting her head to see over her pearls, she labelled Tony Hadley everything from a “gutless creep” to a “total zilch” after he called her out for throwing a beetle on the fire (yes, this is a show with adult contestants).
“You don’t even have a particularly good voice,” she added with extra bite. Clearly she doesn’t know about his stint on Celebrity MasterChef…
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tomorrow night at 9:00pm on ITV
