Turns out Jon Hamm, Emma Stone and Michael Bublé all auditioned for Star Wars…

A Saturday Night Live sketch fronted by JJ Abrams imagines what the stars Force Awakens screens tests might have been like - and even gives the movie's real-life stars John Boyega and Daisy Ridley a crack too

We’d all love to have landed a part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens – and based on a new Saturday Night Live video, an awful lot of celebrities feel the same way.

Featuring a mix of real-life actors and more or less convincing impressionists, the sketch imagines the reactions of various stars to the audition process, from Maggie Smith (“What IS a thermal detonator”) and Michael Bublé to Emma Stone, Jon Hamm and David Beckham, who just scissor-kicked roly-poly droid BB-8 off the set (if only it could have been Jar Jar Binks instead).

Real-life Force Awakens stars John Boyega and Daisy Ridley (who also appear in the clips) must be glad their real auditions went a bit more smoothly…

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is released on 17th December
