“I would like to be Norris’s son. I have watched Corrie since I was little and I have never missed an episode. For me, it’s the greatest TV. I would love to be on Corrie. It would make my life complete,” Reeves said.

Should he end up starring on the ITV soap, Reeves would join a long list of comics to have featured in Weatherfield. Among those who’ve made cameo appearances are Peter Kay, who portrayed drayman Eric Gartside in 2004, while Norman Wisdom played fitness freak Ernie Crabbe in the same year.

Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights co-star Ted Robbins is currently starring in Corrie as Brendan Finch, a love interest for Mary Taylor.

Talking to the Manchester Evening News, Reeves said that he was also impressed by Coronation Street’s recent live episode in which drug dealer was bludgeoned to death by Kylie Platt: “I thought it was brilliant. He was killed off and buried and I don’t know how they will get out of that. Is it the end of David and Kylie?”
