William Shatner wants a Star Trek musical

Boldly singing where no man has sung before

William Shatner’s performance as Captain Kirk was so over the top light curved around it, but it could have been bigger. What it really needed was a brass band and musical numbers.

“I’ve been actively trying to do a 50th anniversary show,” the 84 year old actor told the Press Association about his plans for next year. “We had a big company say, ‘What about a musical or a music variety show?’”

(RadioTimes.com: Yes. Yes to this.)

“That got some traction – but nothing’s come of it yet.”

(RadioTimes.com: Damn.)

While allowing that Paramount might have their own plans in the works, James Tiberius Kirk made clear he had never been contacted. “I don’t know how they can do their own without me,” he said.

Oh well, at least we’ve already had one singing captain of the Enterprise.
