Emmerdale: Gary Mavers to play Aaron’s dad Gordon Livesy

Chas and Aaron will get a blast from the past in a new upcoming storyline

Former Peak Practice star Gary Mavers is joining Emmerdale to play Gordon Livesy, the ex-husband of Chas Dingle and father of Aaron Livesy.

Fifty-one-year-old Mavers, who was seen more recently in BBC1’s 2011 drama Justice, takes over the role from Gerard Fletcher, who made sporadic appearances as Gordon between 2003 and 2008.

Show bosses are remaining tight lipped as to what it is that brings Gordon back to the village, however series producer Kate Oates did allude to upcoming ructions for Chas and Aaron when she spoke to RadioTimes.com last month:

“Aaron and Chas’s story involves a blast from the past,” teased the soap’s boss. “What we’ll see over the next few weeks is the culmination of years of stress taking their toll on Chas. And she’s hoping that what eventually happens might represent some light at the end of the tunnel.”

Oates also added that the situation should not be taken at face value. “The big issue will be how Chas and Aaron respond to what’s happening. There will be some twists and turns and – as always in soapland – nothing is as it seems.”
