It’s official. Benedict Cumberbatch is most definitely in Nepal filming his first scenes for Doctor Strange, a representative for the actor has confirmed to RadioTimes.com

Speculation about Cumberbatch’s whereabouts has been rife ever since tweets claiming to show candid snaps of him on what appeared to be the set of the film began popping up online.

The actor was thought by many to still be in London, with his run as Shakespeare’s Hamlet at The Barbican only ending on Saturday night (October 31st).

But it seems time stops for no Doctor (except THAT ONE, obviously) and Cumberbatch has already hot-footed it across the globe to get his Marvel superhero gear on. And with the film due for release in about 364 days we’re not entirely surprised…

Doctor Strange tells the tale of Stephen Strange, a formerly cocky surgeon, who has lost the use of his hands thanks to a car accident and, in a desperate attempt to heal himself, turns to magic. Tilda Swinton will play The Ancient One, Doctor Strange’s mentor, Chiwetel Ejiofor will play the villainous Baron Mordo and Rachel McAdams is also set to star in an as yet unconfirmed role.

It’s not clear whether it’s actually Cumerbatch or a stand-in we’ve been seeing in the photos, but it sure does look like him.

And fans will be utterly delighted if that’s a real beard he’s sporting – it’s rather like the Doctor Strange goatee featured in much of their fan art.

It would take one rather special superpower to help any man grow sufficient facial fluff in just a few days time, but if anyone Khan do it it’s our Sherlock. That’s elementary.
