Former Bond girl Diana Rigg: Why not have a lesbian 007?

The secret agent's late wife speculates on the future of the franchise

There have been a lot of Bond girls, but only one Mrs Bond. As Contessa Teresa di Vicenzo in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Dame Diana Rigg managed to not only win Bond’s heart, but put a ring on the superspy. 


(She died immediately after the wedding, but hey, better to have loved and lost and all that.)

But who does the actress think should replace Daniel Craig?

A black Bond would be lovely. I wouldn’t like to see a female bond, because we wouldn’t want to lose the Bond girls.


But we could have a lesbian Bond, [so] why not?

Why not? Because we’ll get our hearts broken, that’s why.
