David Tennant’s got a very good reason for you to get up early on Saturday morning

The Doctor Who and Broadchurch star will be back on UK TV screens – but not as you know him

“I’m not a Doctor, I’m a professor actually”: David Tennant’s not beyond making in-jokes for kids (or adults) watching Saturday morning cartoons as he becomes the newest guest star on Nicktoons’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

If you don’t want your Saturday morning cartoon fix spoiled we suggest you come back a little later.

The former Doctor Who star turned Broadchurch sensation hits UK TV screens in his newest guise this Saturday, making his debut as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character Professor Zayton Honeycutt. He’s a scientist who’s had his body destroyed, so his mind now lives inside an android called Fugitoid and he travels – you guessed it – through space and time.

And in true Who fashion, he arrives to save the day, just as the turtles – and Earth – look set to face certain destruction. Shredder’s only gone and KILLED Splinter (the pain is REAL) and the planet’s about to be sucked into what looks like a black hole.

“Hurry, we don’t have much time!” roars Professor Tennant from the door of his ship, bathed in a white light.

Now, where have we seen that before? Hmm…

So y’know, when Fugitoid arrives he’s basically a cartoon android Doctor…

You can catch Tennant in action for the first time on UK TV screens this Saturday morning in Annihilation Earth Part 2 on Nicktoons at 10am.

See, he’s even been nice enough to make a late morning appearance. Back in our day you’d be up before 9 if you wanted to see any heroes in a half shell wield some turtle power.
