Marty McFly’s Pepsi Perfect drink from Back to the Future II is actually being made

The bottles will be released on 21 October 2015, the date the film's hero arrived in the future and ordered his choice of refreshment...

So we don’t have hoverboards (that we can actually buy) or automatic self-drying jackets, but until that exciting time, we can live the Back to the Future II dream with a real Pepsi Perfect drink.

On October 21st 2015, the day Marty McFly arrived in the future in Marty and Doc Brown’s 1989 sequel, Pepsi will release a limited edition of Pepsi Perfect.

The fizzy drink that the film’s hero ordered in Cafe80s, and the item that fans have long wanted to try in real life, will look like this when released this month…

“Fans have always been a little crazy about it,” Lou Arbetter, PepsiCo’s senior director of marketing, told The Hollywood Reporter.  “So we wanted to take advantage of the fact that Marty traveled to the future, to this month, and wanted to actually come out with the product.”

But residents of the modern era might not have a very easy time getting hold of a bottle of Pepsi Perfect. Just 6,500 limited-edition bottles will be released and they’ll cost $20.15 each (that’s £13.29… although that is cheaper than a Hoverboard). Marty’s drink will be sold online but there’s no word yet about whether this UK fans will be able to buy it.

Then again, you might be better off just admiring it from afar because the taste will be exactly the same as the already-existing Pepsi Made With Real Sugar. It’s just that the bottle will look seriously cool.

 The future is NOW.
